Values that represent Argentinians

Values that represent Argentinians

Family is the dimension of life most valued by Argentinians.

The Social Research Centre (CIS) UADE – Voices! carried out a national study of public opinion with the aim of knowing the visions of the population in relation to the "values" that identify Argentinians themselves, as well as the idea of the evolution of these values and world views over time.

Some findings of the study:

  • The 'family' is considered a very important value by 98% of the population, followed by 'work' (90%) and 'study' (89%).
  • When asked about what values identify Argentinians, 'solidarity' (45%) was the most recognized value, followed by 'family' (25%), and the value of 'friendship' (17%).
  • But when it comes to the respondent's own values, the ranking changes: identification with the 'family' (35%) comes first, and 'solidarity' comes close second (34%), followed by 'respect' (22%) - even above 'friendship' (18%) - and 'responsibility' (16%).
  • It is interesting to note the perception of a clear erosion in the value of 'respect' (perceived by 24% as a characteristic of Argentinians in the past, against a projection of 10% in 20 years), and 'family' (22% and 13% respectively).
