Religion predominates in the world and in Argentina

62% of people in the world define themselves as religious.

A new WIN survey explores the religious beliefs of more than 66,000 people in 68 countries around the world, including Argentina where Voices! led the research.

Some findings from the study:

• Globally, 74% of those interviewed believe that people have souls and 71% believe in God, while 56% believe in paradise, 54% that there is life after death and 49% in hell.
• In general, as educational and income levels increase, religiousness levels tend to decrease. On the other hand, the presence of different beliefs is greater among young people.
• The most religious countries are Thailand (98%) and Nigeria (97%), followed by Kosovo, India, Ghana, Papua New Guinea and Ivory Coast (94% in all cases). China is the least religious nation, where almost 7 out of 10 people are atheists (more than twice as many as in any other country) and 23% of those interviewed consider themselves non-religious.
• As for the different beliefs that were analyzed (in God, soul, life after death, heaven and hell) the most believing countries are Bangladesh, Indonesia, Ghana, Pakistan and Papua New Guinea.
• In Argentina we find that 78% define themselves as religious, while 16% say they are not and 4% say they are atheists. These figures remain relatively stable, with no significant variations detected in recent years. There is also a high adherence of the population to different religious beliefs.
