World Internet Day Study

World Internet Day Study

Half of the population is concerned about the security of their digitally shared personal information.

On the occasion of World Internet Day, WIN International, the leading market research and polling association, together with Voices! in Argentina, published the results of its annual Win World Survey that explores the views and beliefs of 26,433 citizens from 34 countries around the world about the privacy of digitally shared personal data.

Some findings of the study:

  • Half of the population is concerned about the security of their digitally shared personal information.
  • In Argentina, a similar number say they are concerned about the security of their data, although their concern is lower than in the previous survey (from 53% in 2019 to 46% in 2019).
  • According to respondents, sharing personal information is something that seems to be avoidable. Only 22% globally believe it is necessary to cope in today's world, and in Argentina only 13% agree with this idea.
  • Nearly a third (27%) of the population surveyed globally disagrees with the privacy practices of most data collectors, with people aged 55 and older expressing the most disagreement.
  • In Argentina, the percentage of respondents who reject these practices is 46%.
  • Globally, only a third of people (27%) say they know what happens to their personal information after it is shared with data collectors.
  • In Argentina, 30% claim to know what happens to their personal information, which shows an increase compared to the previous measurement (21% in 2019).
